Report: Brooklyn Nets Ink Former Lakers forward Devontae Cacok to Deal

Shams Charania of The Athletic reports that, former Lakers power forward Devontae Cacok is leaving after two years to compete for a two-way contract with the Nets.

Cacok took to Twitter to confirm announcement.

Cacok spent his tenure with the Lakers on a two-way deal as an undrafted free agent out of UNC Wilmington. He dominated with the South Bay Lakers as a rookie finishing third in the G-League Rookie of the Year voting while being voted to the All NBA-G League first and All-Rookie teams. Cacok averages of 19.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, 1.1 steals and 0.4 blocks allowed him to be with the parent team in the bubble when they won a championship in his first season.

During the 2020-21 campaign with the Lakers, he only averaged 2.0 points and 1.6 rebounds in limited action in 20 games. Cacok can provide the Nets with some frontcourt depth if he has a breakout performance at training camp.
